The Lusitano Horse Association of Australasia
Our Association
Lusitano Horse Association of Australasia
The main objective of the Association is to maintain the purity of the Lusitano Horse in Australasia and to liaise and cooperate with the Associacao Portugesa de Criadores do Cavalo Puro Sangue Lusitano (APSL) in the correct keeping of the PSL STUD BOOK so that all horses shall be eligible for birth and adult registration with the APSL.
The other important role of the Association is to foster the development of the Lusitano Horse and its derivatives throughout Australasia.
The LHAA was set up with the objective of educating, supporting and assisting all breeders and owners of Lusitano horses in Australasia.
Our goal remains the same as when the LHAA first began - to support and promote in any way whatsoever the interests of breeders of Lusitano Horses in Australasia, both pure and part-bred.
Studbook and Breeding
The Lusitano Horse Association of Australia facilitates the registration of horses in the Portuguese book of births. It also liaises with the APSL to send judges over to Australasia so they can approve adults horses for the APSL studbooks to ensure our breeding maintains the high Lusitano breed standards.
The LHAA does not run a stud book as such, but instead liaises with the APSL in Portugal to get Australasian bred foals inscribed into the APSL Stud Book in Portugal.
The LHAA runs three Registers, one for Purebred Horses registered with the APSL in Portugal, one for Purebred Horses not registered with the APSL in Portugal, and a third for Lusitano Sport Horses. Check out the Registration section for more information
